REFERENDUM RESULTS – FITZROVIA WEST VOTES YES

We are delighted to announce that following the referendum on Thursday 2nd September a majority of residents and businesses in the area have voted YES to the question:

“Do you want Westminster City Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Fitzrovia West to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?”

This means the Fitzrovia West Neighbourhood Plan has been adopted.

Thanks to everyone who has supported the Plan. It has been over six years in the making and many residents and businesses have contributed ideas and support. So now the FitzWest Forum will continue to make sure the Plan is followed and to help Fitzrovia West thrive as an area where people want to live and work. If you would like to be involved in making this happen and to have influence and have your opinions heard then please get in touch (info@fitzwest.org) and join the Executive of the FitzWest Forum. We would love to welcome you!

A YES vote means that local residents and businesses get a say in planning applications in the Fitzrovia West area. The Plan is a series of policies that have been created with input from residents and businesses over the last 6 years. These policies will influence development for the better in this area and make sure local people have input to planning decisions.

Your time has come to vote in a referendum on the Neighbourhood Plan. Everyone registered to vote will be able to say whether they want the plan to influence planning decisions and create an improved environment for all those living in, working in and visiting the area.

One of the main functions of the Forum is to prepare a neighbourhood plan. This sets out a series of policies explaining how we’d like to see the area develop over the next 20 years. The plan has been based on extensive consultation and we work closely with community groups, statutory bodies and business organisations such as the New West End Company. The draft plan has been approved by an independent Examiner who has agreed it fits with other plans prepared by Westminster City Council and the Mayor of London.
